Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 6 slices deli ham
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (optional, for brushing after baking)
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds or grated Parmesan (optional topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to smooth the creases.
- Optional: Brush a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the puff pastry for extra flavor.
- Sprinkle half the cheese evenly over the pastry, then layer ham slices on top. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the ham.
- Fold the pastry in half to sandwich the filling, pressing lightly to seal.
- Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice into 1-inch wide strips.
- Twist each strip gently a few times and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds or Parmesan, if desired.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
- Brush with melted butter (optional) and let cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
- Use different cheeses like Swiss, Gruyère, or pepper jack for variety.
- These can be made ahead — assemble, refrigerate, and bake fresh when ready.
