Description
A classic Chinese-style beef and broccoli stir-fry featuring tender slices of beef and crisp broccoli coated in a savory garlic soy sauce.
Ingredients
- 300g beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ginger, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Blanch the broccoli in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then drain and set aside.
- Season the sliced beef lightly with salt and pepper.
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.
- Add the beef and stir-fry until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, sauté garlic and ginger until fragrant.
- Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and beef broth. Stir well.
- Return the beef to the pan along with the broccoli.
- Add the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens.
- Drizzle with sesame oil, toss everything together, and serve hot.
Notes
- Slice the beef thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
- Do not overcook broccoli to keep it crisp and vibrant.
- Use low-sodium soy sauce to control salt levels.
- You can add carrots or bell peppers for extra color and flavor.
