Description

A classic Chinese-style beef and broccoli stir-fry featuring tender slices of beef and crisp broccoli coated in a savory garlic soy sauce.

Ingredients

  • 300g beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Blanch the broccoli in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  2. Season the sliced beef lightly with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.
  4. Add the beef and stir-fry until browned. Remove and set aside.
  5. In the same pan, sauté garlic and ginger until fragrant.
  6. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and beef broth. Stir well.
  7. Return the beef to the pan along with the broccoli.
  8. Add the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens.
  9. Drizzle with sesame oil, toss everything together, and serve hot.

Notes

  • Slice the beef thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
  • Do not overcook broccoli to keep it crisp and vibrant.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to control salt levels.
  • You can add carrots or bell peppers for extra color and flavor.
