Christmas Black Forest Trifle is a festive layered dessert featuring chocolate cake, cherries, rich chocolate pudding, and fluffy whipped cream—perfect for holiday celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 1 chocolate sponge cake or chocolate cake, cut into cubes
  • 2 cups canned or jarred cherries, drained (reserve juice)
  • 1/4 cup cherry juice or syrup
  • 2 cups chocolate pudding (prepared)
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate shavings or grated chocolate
  • Fresh cherries for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. In a large trifle bowl or glass serving dish, layer half of the chocolate cake cubes.
  2. Drizzle cake with half of the cherry juice or syrup.
  3. Add half of the cherries evenly over the cake layer.
  4. Spread half of the chocolate pudding over the cherries.
  5. In a bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  6. Spread half of the whipped cream over the pudding.
  7. Repeat layers with remaining cake, juice, cherries, pudding, and whipped cream.
  8. Finish by sprinkling chocolate shavings on top.
  9. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
  10. Garnish with fresh cherries if desired.
