Christmas Black Forest Trifle is a festive layered dessert featuring chocolate cake, cherries, rich chocolate pudding, and fluffy whipped cream—perfect for holiday celebrations.
Ingredients
- 1 chocolate sponge cake or chocolate cake, cut into cubes
- 2 cups canned or jarred cherries, drained (reserve juice)
- 1/4 cup cherry juice or syrup
- 2 cups chocolate pudding (prepared)
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate shavings or grated chocolate
- Fresh cherries for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large trifle bowl or glass serving dish, layer half of the chocolate cake cubes.
- Drizzle cake with half of the cherry juice or syrup.
- Add half of the cherries evenly over the cake layer.
- Spread half of the chocolate pudding over the cherries.
- In a bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Spread half of the whipped cream over the pudding.
- Repeat layers with remaining cake, juice, cherries, pudding, and whipped cream.
- Finish by sprinkling chocolate shavings on top.
- Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
- Garnish with fresh cherries if desired.
