Description
Tender pan-seared chicken smothered in a rich creamy gravy and served over fluffy rice, creating a hearty and comforting one-pan meal.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups cooked white rice (for serving)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Season chicken with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken on both sides until golden brown, about 4–5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add onion and garlic. Sauté for 2–3 minutes until fragrant.
- Sprinkle flour over onions and stir. Gradually whisk in chicken broth, then heavy cream. Simmer until sauce thickens, 3–4 minutes.
- Stir in Parmesan and cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
- Return chicken to skillet and spoon sauce over the top. Simmer on low for 8–10 minutes until chicken is cooked through (165°F / 74°C internal temperature).
- Serve chicken smothered in sauce over a bed of rice. Garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
- Substitute rice with mashed potatoes or pasta for variety.
- For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
- Add mushrooms or spinach for extra flavor and nutrition.
