Description

Beautiful apple pastries shaped like blooming roses, made with thinly sliced apples wrapped in puff pastry and lightly sweetened with cinnamon and sugar.

Ingredients

  • 2 large red apples, thinly sliced
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 3 tbsp apricot jam or honey
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease or line a muffin tin.
  2. Microwave apricot jam with water until smooth; set aside.
  3. Toss apple slices with lemon juice and microwave 1–2 minutes until pliable.
  4. Roll out puff pastry slightly and cut into 6 long strips.
  5. Brush each strip with the apricot mixture.
  6. Mix sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over pastry.
  7. Lay apple slices along the top edge of each pastry strip, overlapping slightly, with the peel side sticking out.
  8. Fold the bottom half of the pastry strip up over the apples.
  9. Roll each strip from end to end to form a rose shape.
  10. Place roses in muffin tin and bake 35–40 minutes until golden and crisp.
  11. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Use red apples for the most vibrant “petals.”
  • If apples tear while shaping, they may need an extra 30 seconds of softening.
  • Replace apricot jam with honey or maple syrup if preferred.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for a dessert-style bloom.
