Description
Beautiful apple pastries shaped like blooming roses, made with thinly sliced apples wrapped in puff pastry and lightly sweetened with cinnamon and sugar.
Ingredients
- 2 large red apples, thinly sliced
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 3 tbsp apricot jam or honey
- 2 tbsp water
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease or line a muffin tin.
- Microwave apricot jam with water until smooth; set aside.
- Toss apple slices with lemon juice and microwave 1–2 minutes until pliable.
- Roll out puff pastry slightly and cut into 6 long strips.
- Brush each strip with the apricot mixture.
- Mix sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over pastry.
- Lay apple slices along the top edge of each pastry strip, overlapping slightly, with the peel side sticking out.
- Fold the bottom half of the pastry strip up over the apples.
- Roll each strip from end to end to form a rose shape.
- Place roses in muffin tin and bake 35–40 minutes until golden and crisp.
- Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- Use red apples for the most vibrant “petals.”
- If apples tear while shaping, they may need an extra 30 seconds of softening.
- Replace apricot jam with honey or maple syrup if preferred.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for a dessert-style bloom.
