Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup (40 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup (65 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons instant coffee granules
  • 1 tablespoon hot water
  • 1/4 cup (60 g) unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 1 1/2 cups (180 g) powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.
  2. Melt the butter and mix with granulated sugar until combined.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  4. Stir in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until just combined.
  5. Dissolve instant coffee in hot water and mix into the batter.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20–25 minutes.
  7. Allow brownies to cool completely.
  8. For the frosting, beat softened butter with powdered sugar, milk, and remaining coffee until smooth.
  9. Spread frosting evenly over cooled brownies, slice, and serve.
