Description

A decadent Southern classic, Mississippi Mud Pie features a crunchy cookie crust, rich creamy chocolate filling, and a luscious whipped topping with chocolate drizzle.

Ingredients

  • 24 Oreo cookies, crushed (for crust)
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (for crust)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for crust)
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups whipped topping or whipped cream (for top layer)
  • Chocolate shavings or syrup (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix crushed Oreos, melted butter, and sugar, then press into a 9-inch pie pan to form the crust. Bake for 10 minutes and let cool.
  2. In a saucepan, melt chocolate chips and butter together until smooth. Stir in sugar and let cool slightly.
  3. Whisk in eggs one at a time, then mix in cocoa powder until well combined.
  4. Pour chocolate mixture into the cooled crust and bake for 25–30 minutes until set. Let cool completely.
  5. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Fold in whipped cream.
  6. Spread cream cheese mixture evenly over cooled chocolate layer.
  7. Top with whipped topping or whipped cream.
  8. Garnish with chocolate shavings or a drizzle of chocolate syrup before serving.
