Description
A decadent Southern classic, Mississippi Mud Pie features a crunchy cookie crust, rich creamy chocolate filling, and a luscious whipped topping with chocolate drizzle.
Ingredients
- 24 Oreo cookies, crushed (for crust)
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (for crust)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for crust)
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups whipped topping or whipped cream (for top layer)
- Chocolate shavings or syrup (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix crushed Oreos, melted butter, and sugar, then press into a 9-inch pie pan to form the crust. Bake for 10 minutes and let cool.
- In a saucepan, melt chocolate chips and butter together until smooth. Stir in sugar and let cool slightly.
- Whisk in eggs one at a time, then mix in cocoa powder until well combined.
- Pour chocolate mixture into the cooled crust and bake for 25–30 minutes until set. Let cool completely.
- In a large bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Fold in whipped cream.
- Spread cream cheese mixture evenly over cooled chocolate layer.
- Top with whipped topping or whipped cream.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings or a drizzle of chocolate syrup before serving.
Notes
- Chill the pie for at least 2 hours before slicing for clean cuts.
- Add chopped pecans or walnuts for extra crunch in the crust.
- Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
