Description
A smooth and elegant Italian dessert made with lightly sweetened vanilla-infused cream, set with gelatin for a silky, melt-in-your-mouth texture.
Ingredients
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp powdered gelatin
- 3 tbsp cold water
- 1 vanilla bean (or 2 tsp pure vanilla extract)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Sprinkle gelatin over cold water in a small bowl and let bloom for 5 minutes.
- In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, milk, sugar, salt, and vanilla bean (split and scraped).
- Heat gently over medium-low heat until sugar dissolves and mixture is hot but not boiling.
- Remove from heat and discard vanilla bean.
- Stir in bloomed gelatin until fully dissolved.
- Pour mixture into serving glasses or molds.
- Let cool slightly, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours until set.
- Serve chilled, optionally topped with berries or fruit sauce.
Notes
- Do not boil the cream to preserve smooth texture.
- Chill uncovered for the first 30 minutes to prevent condensation.
- Can be made a day ahead.
